Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is useful for a wide variety of purposes. Just a few examples include:

  • Anxiety

  • Pain

  • Healing

  • Confidence and Self-Esteem

  • Releasing negative habits and replacing them with positive habits

It may be that your only familiarity with hypnosis is from a stage performance. This is quite different from the way hypnosis is used in counseling. Misconceptions about hypnosis have arisen because of the tricks used during a stage performance. In reality, the hypnotherapist is not able to direct you to do anything you do not wish to do. In fact, the general nature of suggestions that are used during a session will be agreed upon in the initial interview, before hypnosis.

Hypnosis is a state we all experience on a regular basis. It is any time that we are awake, yet our conscious mind is turned off, and our subconscious mind is allowed to operate freely. This happens for example, when you are driving on a familiar road, and you “zone out” for a stretch of time. It often happens during the creative process when we get into the “flow” of our work. You may also have experienced this state while "in the zone", doing something you love to do and excel at doing.

In hypnosis, we create this state of mind, in order to allow a deeper level of learning to take place. You then are able to let go of unhealthy habits, reframe your perceptions, and increase your confidence in letting go of limiting beliefs.

All of this happens while you are awake, in a state that most people find to be deeply relaxing. Typically, at the end of a session, you will feel relaxed, refreshed, and energized.

My training is in both Basic and Medical Hypnotherapy, and I am certified in both. I was trained through the Hypnosis Motivation Institute and The Hypnosis Institute. I use hypnosis as an integral part of my health counseling.

How many sessions depends on the issue, as well as individual variability in response to hypnosis. You should experience at least some significant improvement with the first session.
