Reiki

Reiki is a gentle, powerful, and effective method of natural healing. It is a form of energy healing which was developed in Japan about one hundred years ago. Although it is therefore a relatively new form of energy healing, its roots are ancient. Energy healing has been in use on every continent, in virtually every indigenous culture for thousands of years. Everything is made up of energy, as Einstein taught us. When the energy that flows through our bodies becomes blocked, this causes illness or discomfort, whether this is on a physical, emotional, or spiritual level. Energy healing seeks to release these blockages to restore health and a sense of well being.

During a session, the client lies on a massage table, fully clothed. A light healing touch is used to transmit healing energy. It is a deeply relaxing, restorative experience. As with most forms of energy healing, Reiki helps to bring the body, mind, and spirit back into balance. By eliciting the relaxation response, it lowers blood pressure, releases muscle tension, reduces pain, alleviates anxiety or depression, and soothes the digestive track.

Reiki is used around the world, and is being increasingly adopted by the medical community. Hospitals in this area using Reiki include Norwalk, Columbia-Presbyterian and Memorial Sloane Kettering. Reiki heals on the physical, emotional, and spiritual levels, and works well with Western medicine, as well as other healing practices. In counteracting the effects of stress, Reiki assists in restoration of the mind/body balance, and promotes your body's natural healing ability.

In addition to receiving an hour long Reiki treatment from Linda, you may also consider learning how to use Reiki energy on yourself, family members, and friends. In this case you would want to sign up for a Reiki class. Classes are taught on three levels. Level I is the basic training in which you learn about Reiki, and how to use it. Level II teaches you the symbols and mantras that are used to focus or amplify Reiki energy, and also how to send Reiki at a distance. At the Master Level, you learn additional symbols and mantras, and techniques to further your knowledge of the healing process.
